Whitney Cox graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor’s of elementary education and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Education in middle grades science from EKU online. Whitney is a first-grade teacher at Corbin primary school. She recently shared her thoughts about her EKU Online experience.
How has earning this degree changed or aided your career?
The degrees that I have been able to earn at EKU have helped me grow as an educator and future leader. I feel prepared and confident in my ability due to the instruction provided by the professors at EKU.
What motivated you to get this degree?
My motivation is my daughters! I want them to see a role model when they look at me. I want to be a model of hard work, determination, and setting goals!
What was your favorite part or the highlight of your time as an EKU Online student?
The best part of being an online student is being able to work at my own pace. I am able to enjoy my family and work on my degree at the same time without feeling overwhelmed.
How did the EKU Online faculty aid in your success?
EKU Online faculty have been great at providing needed feedback to become better! They provided prompt scoring, feedback, and responses.
What did you find surprising about the program?
The surprising thing about the program for me was how easy it was to further my education and juggle my full-time job, as well as family.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to become an EKU Online student?
My advice would be to set your pace. Look at the assignments and plan how and when you will work on the assignments through your week. Communicate with your professors and get to know them!
