Sarah Bryant

Sarah Bryant is a student in Eastern Kentucky University’s online master of social work (MSW) program. Sarah works for the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services as a Family Services Office Supervisor. She is completing her MSW online and recently shared her thoughts about her EKU Online experience.

How has earning this degree changed or aided your career?

EKU’s MSW program has helped to expand my leadership abilities. The interprofessional focus has given me the tools to increase collaboration between families, my team and community partners. We are able to work in partnership with families to help address concerns and safety issues with children in the home.

What motivated you to get this degree?

I wanted to expand my future opportunities to help contribute to the field of social work through continued research.

What was your favorite part or the highlight of your time as an EKU Online student?

Having the flexibility to continue to work full time while being in school full time.

How did the EKU Online faculty aid in your success?

They remained in communication with me to address concerns, developed courses that encouraged critical thinking, and provided outside opportunities for growth.

What did you find surprising about the program?

I was surprised at the ability I had to form relationships with peers even in an online program.

What advice would you give to someone who is looking to become an EKU Online student?

Just apply and do it! I will always recommend EKU, it is a special institution.
