A Student Story: Tracy Belfield, Educational Specialist

EKU Online > A Student Story: Tracy Belfield, Educational Specialist

EKU Online student Tracy Belfield speaks about her experience in the Specialist in Education program.

Describe your EKU Online experience.

I have loved the convenience of taking classes online with EKU but still being challenged to the same extent I would expect by sitting in a brick-and-mortar classroom.

Why did you choose EKU?

I wanted the best education for my dollar.

What sets EKU apart?

I have taken online classes from other colleges and did not feel as connected, supported, or challenged as I have at EKU.

How could this degree advance your career?

I have already completed my director of special education certification and will soon finish my Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) degree, which will allow me to obtain my principal certification. I feel very prepared to one day take the role of director of special education (DoSE) for my district.

What advice do you have for other EKU Online students?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Reach out to your advisor and professors. They really do want to help you to succeed.

EKU’s online specialist in education degree is a post-master’s program that fulfills the requirements for Kentucky director of pupil personnel, supervisor of instruction and superintendent of schools.
