Robert Delgadillos graduated with a master’s degree in nursing (MSN) from Eastern Kentucky University. He works as a nurse practitioner specializing in infectious disease for San Antonio Infectious Disease Consultants. He completed his degree online and recently shared his thoughts about his EKU Online experience.
How has earning this degree changed or aided your career?
Earning the Master of Science of Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University allowed me to advance my career in the field of nursing. I achieved my goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. Most importantly, the rural health focus has better prepared me to provide care for the underserved population in my community.
What motivated you to get this degree?
I’ve always wanted to serve my community as a health care provider. I have a passion for educating my patients and helping them gain access to better health care.
What was your favorite part or the highlight of your time as an EKU Online student?
My favorite aspect of the EKU online experience was the flexibility and accessibility. I was able to work full-time and complete the program. I really felt like I was part of the EKU family from start to finish.
How did the EKU Online faculty aid in your success?
The EKU Online faculty were phenomenal. Everyone was so helpful, nice, and made it their goal to contribute to our success. They were always available whenever I needed help or had a question. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
What did you find surprising about the program?
The accommodation. EKU Online faculty did their best to make sure you had everything you needed to succeed. Even though it was an online program, and I was in another state, I felt at home.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to become an EKU Online student?
Don’t be intimated by an online education program. EKU provides all the tools you need to be successful with distance learning. Communication is key. Meet your fellow students and get to know your faculty.
Parting Thoughts?
I’m so happy and thankful that I choose EKU for my MSN. After completing the program, I felt confident and prepared to enter the field of advanced practice nursing. I couldn’t have asked for a more personable group of faculty members.
