Curriculum

Our  regionally accredited online program is made up of the same high-quality courses and taught by the same experienced professors as the on-campus program.  EKU’s curriculum blends academic and professional preparation through course topics such as crisis intervention, addictions, and race and ethnic relations.

JPL 828 – Mental Health/Substance Abuse Issues in the Correctional Setting (3)
Explores prevalence, diagnosis, best practices for treatment of mental illness/substance abuse disorders, pressing issues facing the criminal justice system in the correctional population.

PSY 818 – Psychology of Addictions (3)
This course is designed to provide an overview of the assessment, diagnosis, theory, and treatment of substance-related and addictive disorders.

SWK 762 – Alcohol and Drug Treatment (3)
Provides clinical and scientific knowledge about the treatment of alcohol and drug addiction.

SWK 866 – Crisis Intervention (3)
Examination of current theories pertaining to the fundamentals of trauma and traumatic stress that can lead to crisis. The implications of crisis intervention to modify, manage, and cope with trauma will be addressed.
