The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is the principal fact-finding agency for the federal government in the broad field of labor economics and statistics. The BLS is an independent national statistical agency that collects, processes, analyzes, and disseminates essential statistical data to the American public, the U.S. Congress, other federal agencies, state and local governments, business, and labor. The BLS also serves as a statistical resource to the Department of Labor.
Occupational Information Network
The Occupational Information Network (O*NET) is developed under the sponsorship of the U.S. Department of Labor/Employment and Training Administration. The database, which is available to the public at no cost, is continually updated from input by a broad range of workers in each occupation.
This platform serves as the nation’s primary source of occupational information, providing comprehensive information on key attributes and characteristics of workers and occupations. This resource can be used as a tool for career exploration and job analysis.

Handshake is a database of full-time, part-time, seasonal and internship positions filtered and maintained by the Office of Academic & Career Services. Handshake lists positions from local, national, and international organizations. It also serves as the portal through which you can schedule in person or virtual appointments with the Office of Academic & Career Services to have your resume reviewed and/or schedule a mock interview. It is also the first place you can check for career fairs, interviews, and other career-related events happening on or around campus. Most importantly, Handshake is offered at more than 500 colleges and universities, so it gives you access to a national network of hiring employers. Handshake is accessible through a user-friendly app that you download on your mobile device.
