Curriculum

EKU’s online psychology curriculum prepares students to pursue a variety of rewarding career possibilities by offering multiple in-demand concentration options and blending academic and professional preparation through dynamic, career-oriented coursework.

Psychology courses include abnormal psychology, social psychology, statistics-research, psychological interviewing and reporting, behavior therapy and clinical psychology. The program also offers unique opportunities for joint student-faculty research.

Degree Requirements

Transfer Credits

Students may transfer up to 90 hours of credit from accredited institutions. Please note that a minimum of 30 credit hours in this degree program must be completed at Eastern Kentucky University.

Previously earned credits must be reviewed upon admittance to EKU for appropriate articulation. Learn more about transferring to EKU.

PSY 308 – Abnormal Psychology (3)
Descriptive study of the nature, course, classification and prevalence of abnormal behavior, with attention to intellectual, personality, cognitive, sensory and motor functions.

PSY 300 – Social Psychology (3)
A study of the power of situations and the social environment to affect human behavior. Topics include: attitudes, persuasion, prejudice, discrimination, group behavior, interpersonal attraction, aggression and prosocial behavior.

PSY 405 – Psychological Interviewing and Reporting (3)
Introduction to the basic concepts and skills of interviewing and therapeutic communication in the mental health field.

PSY 566 – Forensic Psychology (3)
Review the roles of clinical psychologists in the legal system, focusing on principles of forensic mental health assessment, procedures of civil and criminal forensic psychological assessment, expert testimony, and forensic report writing.
