Special Tuition for Active Duty* Military & Their Spouses

Eastern Kentucky University offers reduced tuition rates of $258 per credit hour for undergraduate courses** to eligible active service members and their spouses who are not utilizing any other form of federal or state military education entitlement other than Tuition Assistance (TA) or My Career Advancement Account Scholarship (MyCAA).

Eligible active duty service members who are not utilizing any other form of federal or state military education entitlement other than Tuition Assistance (TA) also receive the reduced tuition rate of $335 for graduate courses.***

*Activity duty is defined as on federal orders for 180 days or more.

**The following programs are not eligible for the Reduced Military Spouse Rate: BS in Nursing and BS in Occupational Therapy.

***Regular online tuition rates apply to the following programs: Master of Science in Nursing, Doctorate in Nursing Practice, and Doctorate in Occupational Therapy.

How to Claim Your Reduced Tuition

Students will need to complete the following steps to be eligible for the active duty tuition rate:
Active Duty Military Members
Step 1

Visit: SCRA and provide the information requested to generate a certificate verifying active duty status.**

Step 2

Submit your certificate of active duty status to the Office of Military & Veterans Affairs:

**Important Note: Students will need to provide an updated certificate of active duty status at the beginning of each academic year to extend the active duty reduced tuition. Students must certify their active duty status by the end of the Add/Drop period in their first term, as well as by the end of the Add/Drop period in the first term of each subsequent academic year.

Active Duty Military Spouses
Step 1

Visit: MiConnect to obtain Family ID cards.

  • Log into MiConnect
  • Once logged in, click on My Profile
  • Click “ID Card Office Online”
  • Click “Family ID Cards.” Your ID card should list your name and your military spouse status
Step 2

Submit to Office of Military & Veterans Affairs by emailing proof to EKUVeteransAffairs@eku.edu with “Reduced Military Spouse Rate Confirmation” in the subject line.

  • IPERMS – Beneficiary Selection
  • MilConnect – Proof of Health Coverage

**Important Note: Proof of military spouse status must be resubmitted at the beginning of each semester prior to the Add/Drop date. This rate cannot be applied retroactively.
