Special Education — Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education Certification Preparation Program

EKU’s online interdisciplinary early childhood education certification preparation program is a graduate, non-degree granting program that focuses on best practices and promotes the knowledge and skill sets needed to advance the quality of services and educational programs for students. The program meets Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board requirements and prepares educators to work as leaders in early childhood settings, including state and local level organizations.


Format: 100% online
Credit Hours: 36-42 hours
Tuition: $510 per credit hour
                  $325 per credit hour for active duty military
Transfer Credits Accepted: 9 hours
Career Options: Elementary education teacher, public preschool coordinator;  Head start coordinator, Head Start administrator, directors of early childhood centers, administrators of early childhood centers, Kentucky Department of Education worker, Kentucky Division of Child Care worker; specialist or coach (P-12), teacher leader educator

Notes:  If you do not hold teacher certification in Kentucky, please consult with your state’s licensing agency to determine whether our program will meet your state’s licensure requirements.

Students pursuing certification must hold an undergraduate degree in early childhood or related field and a Kentucky Teaching Certificate or meet all requirements for admission to teacher education.
