Benjamin Schultz graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in fire, arson and explosion investigation. He works for the City of Stevens Point, Wisconsin as a motor pump operator. He completed his bachelor’s degree online and recently shared his thoughts about his EKU Online experience.

Yes, as a member of our fire investigation team, I have been able to provide a stronger value to the team.
What motivated you to get this degree?
It has been a career goal to obtain a bachelor’s degree.
What was your favorite part or the highlight of your time as an EKU Online student?
My favorite part or highlight of my time at EKU was networking and making contacts in all parts of the USA.
How did the EKU Online faculty aid in your success?
The support staff was so great to ask questions, ask for assistance and ask for clarification that it really made the experience more fulfilling.
What did you find surprising about the program?
What surprised me about the program was how doable it was. Yes, it was challenging, but nothing impossible. It was exactly what I was looking for.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering becoming an EKU Online student?
Advice that I would pass on to the next prospective student is take a breath, do your best, and at the end of the semester, if you did you best, you should have nothing to worry about.
