We all have a stake in each other’s success. When a child succeeds in school, a parent finds long-term employment, or hungry people are fed, the entire community benefits. The solutions that are created for community need go beyond short-term charity for a few. The United Way strives to raise money, organize events, and create programs for numerous populations within the communities it serves.
Many of the programs that The United Way partners with are non-profit agencies that provide services and resources to those with emergent needs.
Whether it’s an abused/battered women’s shelter in need of programing and supplies, food insecurity, or homelessness The United Way fights for solutions within each community.
Innovative Solutions
The United Way offers innovative solutions to build stronger individuals and communities, engaging people from all walks of life to become part of those solutions. This is only possible through the generous and loving donations that come from so many sources. It goes much further than monetary needs, as well. Meaningful community solutions require more than money or programs or policies. The kind of real and lasting change that benefits everyone is only possible when people from all walks of life are willing to roll up their sleeves and go where they are most needed. Volunteers are the absolute heart of the United Way. “Our work is fueled by the passion of 2.8 million volunteers and 9.8 million donors who give their time, their money, and their voice to improve the lives of others” (United Way, 2022).
Being a part of the United Way, has opened my eyes to the reality of disparities in our community. This organization stands out for its dedication to engaging with individuals, families, groups, and organizations. I will continue to volunteer my time to serve my community and ask that you consider the same, as the power of caring can truly unite us all.
