Eastern Kentucky University Online degree programs have again been ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. This year, EKU’s online bachelor’s degree in psychology ranked in the top 20 for Best Undergraduate Psychology Programs.

The university also ranked in the top 100 for Best Online Graduate Nursing Programs, Best Online Bachelor’s Programs and Best Undergraduate Business Programs. EKU’s online programs have consistently been recognized among the best since 2013 when U.S. News & World Report first published rankings for online degree programs.

Program Evaluation Process

Programs were evaluated based on four general categories: engagement, which refers to students’ ability to interact with faculty and classmates; services and technology, which considers student support services, career guidance, financial aid resources and integration of diverse course technologies; faculty credentials and training, which reflects how online faculty credentials mirror those of on-campus faculty; and finally, assessment by peer institutions. Graduate programs were also judged on their selectivity.

“The reason we rank so high in these categories is because online students learn from the same faculty as our on-campus students,” said Tim Matthews, executive director of EKU’s Office of EKU Online. “In addition, we take great pride in the level of support we provide. EKU Online students receive individualized attention and guidance from our dedicated staff of advisors, and the quality of courses is second to none thanks to the collaboration between our faculty and instructional design center.”

The Best for Veterans

EKU’s programs were also recognized as some of the best for Vets. EKU’s online graduate nursing programs were ranked #14 in the country as best for vets and the online bachelor’s programs were ranked in the top 50. According to U.S. News & World Report, EKU’s overall quality was the most significant factor in its ranking as one of the best for vets, however, the extent to which it made financial benefits accessible to veterans was also used to determine its rank.
