Eastern Kentucky University’s online degree programs have once again been ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. This year, EKU’s online Master of Science in Nursing program was ranked #10 in the nation for Best Graduate Nursing programs for Veterans.
“We are very pleased that EKU’s online programs have been recognized as some of the best programs for veterans,” said Tim Matthews, executive director of EKU’s Office of EKU Online. “EKU has a proud history of serving veterans and active-duty military and has been recognized among the best at serving these populations for many years. It’s exciting to see that recognition extend to our online degree offerings.”
Best for veterans
According to U.S. News & World Report, EKU’s overall quality was the most significant factor in its ranking as one of the best for veterans; however, the extent to which it made financial benefits accessible to veterans was also used to determine rank.
EKU’s Master of Science in Nursing is one of the university’s most popular online programs. In addition to its best for Veterans distinction, it was named the top-ranked online graduate nursing program in Kentucky by U.S. News & World Report for 2023.
The online MSN program allows working nurses to build upon professional expertise through advanced education in one of two areas: rural health family nurse practitioner or psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Additional programs of study include post-MSN certificates in these areas and the Doctor of Nursing practice degree.
EKU’s online programs have consistently been recognized among the best since 2013 when U.S. News & World Report first published rankings for online degree programs.
Most EKU Online courses can be completed in eight weeks, which is half the time of the traditional on-campus class. This allows students with jobs or family obligations to take just one or two courses per term and make steady progress toward graduation.
