The Communication Studies program frequently offers students the opportunity to study abroad. These opportunities are available to both online and on-campus students.
This summer students may take courses focusing on interpersonal communication and intercultural communication through CCSA, the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad. The Interpersonal Communication course in London will enhance relational communication skills. With opportunities to explore sites such as Hever Palace, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and Stratford-Upon-Avon, this diverse city is the perfect classroom for learning interpersonal communication concepts. The London Intercultural Experience: Communication, Competence, and Contexts is another course offered that will explore the culturally rich city of London and how this cultural diversity may impact communication processes. Intercultural communication skills will be developed as students visit the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the British Museum, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theater.
In this four-week program, you can choose to participate in one or both of the aforementioned courses, to earn 3 or 6 credit hours. The program begins on May 26, 2023, and ends on June 23, 2023. The CCSA website has the latest updates on pricing and accommodations. The early application fee is $150 and ends on February 17, 2023. After this date, the application fee increases to $250. Options are available for both group and individual travel, which may also impact the cost of the trip.
How to Apply
Students are encouraged to contact the EKU Education Abroad Office before applying. They will explain the application process and discuss what scholarships may be available for funding the trip. This office offers study abroad advising appointments and assistance with financial aid inquiry forms that can help make the application process easier. It is entirely possible to fund most or all of your trip through scholarships.
