EKU Online > Child and Family Studies Ranks in Best Colleges Top 10

The EKU Online Child and Family Studies bachelor’s degree is in the Top 10 among online degree programs in human and family development. Best College Reviews placed Eastern Kentucky University’s program 8th in its 2018 rankings for “Best Bachelor’s in Human and Family Development Online Degree Programs.”

“There’s an enormous amount of versatility with this degree,” said Dr. Dana Keller Bush, department chair and coordinator of the online child and family studies bachelor’s program. “Our graduates work in educational organizations, government agencies and non-profits. They are well-prepared for a variety of career paths related to children and families.”

EKU has offered child and family studies bachelor’s degree with a concentration in child development since fall 2015. To compile their rankings, Best College Reviews used College Navigator, a resource provided by the National Center for Education Statistics. Scores were awarded based on

  • Affordable tuition
  • Reputation of the university’s online bachelor’s programs with U.S. News & World Report
  • Opportunities for customization through minors and concentrations
  • Format options such as full-time and part-time enrollment and accelerated curriculum

The organization also added a “Wow Factor” category to account for any unique features a program might offer. The EKU Online Child Development program provides students with the opportunity to finish most courses in just 8 weeks, as opposed to 16 weeks in a traditional structure. Additional credentials can be added to the child and family studies bachelor’s program resulting in an Infant/Toddler Care Certificate or an Early Childhood Director Certificate.
