ECampus Awards Program Celebrates Commitment of Students, Faculty and Staff
On Thursday, December 10, the EKU Office of e-Campus Learning hosted the first-ever eCampus Awards Program (eCAPS) to recognize excellence in student support, teaching and course design.
Dr. Janna Vice welcomed everyone to the event by acknowledging the commitment of faculty and hard work of staff that has driven the unit’s success. Founded nearly 10 years ago in the EKU College of Justice and Safety, EKU Online has grown to include more than 30 degree options. As of Fall 2015, more than 3,000 students are enrolled with EKU Online.
The highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of the Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award to General Studies Major Debbie Yerian of Columbus, Ohio who was graduating the following day. She originally attended EKU in the 1970’s but dropped out after meeting her future husband. “Thank you for creating a way for me to walk tomorrow from the university I started from,” she told the audience. Her remarks were met with an emotional standing ovation.
Marc Woods, an MSN – Nursing Administration student from Georgetown, Kentucky was named Outstanding Graduate Student but was unable to attend.

Excellence in Online Teaching: John Hern, director of first year courses
Excellence in Instructional Design: Jennifer Perkins, instructional designer
Excellence in Course Design: Dr. Alison Connell, instructor and Chris Daniel, instructional designer for NSC 832 - Advanced Physical Assessment
Highest Start Rate – Undergraduate Programs: Amanda Ballou, assistant online coordinator, EKU Online RN-BSN program
Highest Start Rate – Graduate Programs: Halie Sissle, assistant online coordinator, EKU Online Graduate Nursing programs
Highest Retention Rate – Undergraduate Programs: Clay Arnold, assistant online coordinator, EKU Online RN-BSN program
